Hi, it’s Fabergé Falls ! We're a Paris-based psych rock/pop band drawn from the worlds of Of Montreal, Boards of Canada, Tame Impala — and, of course, Britney Spears. Our debut album is for lovers of love, life, sunshine, music and idleness. Recorded live at Motorbass and releasead on Paper Garden Records, it's designed to shield our hearts from the most aggressive energies of everyday life. Grab your parachutes and take a leap through our five favourite albums to discover the origin of our band’s name and what inspired us to write our first psychedelic rock album, Blue Light Filter.
Moon Safari, Air, 1998
This album was a major source of inspiration in our search for ethereal, electronic sounds for our debut album. In fact, the synth solo in Haven’t Seen This Coming, the fourth track on our album, was inspired by La Femme d’Argent, the opening track on Moon Safari.
Lonerism, Tame Impala, 2012
If Lonerism features on our list of favourite albums, it’s not because Nico, our singer, looks just like Kevin Parker, but because Tame Impala has always been a huge source of inspiration for the bass sounds and the rhythmic arrangements.
Music Has the Right to Children, Boards of Canada, 1998
Yet another major source of inspiration for our songwriting. In fact, we’ve been covering Dayvan Cowboy at a few gigs, as an introduction to our track What Else Could Be Done?, whose sonorities pay homage to Dayvan Cowboy.
Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer ?, of Montreal, 2007
Our quirky side probably stems from this of Montreal album, in any case, Fabergé Falls for Shuggie is the track that inspired our band’s name. Imagine a cascade of Fabergé eggs forming a psychedelic, colourful waterfall and you’ll get a sense of both the atmosphere of Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? and that of some of our tracks !
Discovery, Daft Punk, 2001
2001, what a year! It was the year our bassist was born, but also the year Discovery was released. This album inspires us to create, because its sounds and visuals (with Interstella 5555) demonstrate just how sensitive and magnificent human art can be.
